Tamara Thompson, M.S.
PMP, is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer with over 10 years of experience in international development and project management. As a Peace Corps volunteer Ms. Thompson worked on Agriculture projects in her small West African village. She established a grinding mill in the village to help women, started literacy classes, and raised money to improve village infrastructure to prevent deaths. After Peace Corps Ms. Thompson returned to the US and earned her Master’s degree in Peace Operations. She also has a bachelor’s degree in French language.
After Peace Corps and graduation, Ms. Thompson had subsequent contracts in West Africa with a micro savings social enterprise and a USAID climate change project. From her experience managing projects abroad, Ms. Thompson became interested in Project Management and earned her PMP certification from the Project Management Institute in the US. Ms. Thompson currently works with KEN Consulting Inc. on a U.S. Department of Education Contract where she creates content for the Dept of Education’s Distance Learning Dataset Training’s online learning modules. She also works with the production team that creates and records online training modules that education policy makers, researchers, faculty, and graduate students use to understand the Department of Education surveys and analytical techniques. Ms. Thompson also assists on a Dept of Labor contract as a research analyst and uses her advanced Excel skills to support the projects data analysis.
Ms. Thompson is also a member of a team at KEN Consulting, Inc. that seeks to acquire international development and research opportunities. She uses her French language skills, time abroad, and Project Management experience, to further KEN Consulting’s mission.
